Privacy policy

Klipova is built to work with as little personal data as possible. This page explains exactly what the service processes when you use it, why, and for how long.

What we don't collect

• No accounts. You never sign up or log in.
• No download history. We don't keep a list of the links you paste or the files you download.
• No tracking cookies and no advertising profiles.
• No social media logins. We never ask for your passwords or cookies for YouTube, Instagram or any other site.

What we process, and why

Links you paste. To find the downloadable files, our server reads the public page behind the link. Results — and the temporary download links we create — are kept in a short-lived cache for at most one hour, never together with your IP address.

Your IP address. Like every website, our servers see your IP address when you connect. We use it only to protect the service from abuse (request limits). It is not written to our logs in readable form: for rate limiting we keep a keyed fingerprint of it for at most one hour.

Technical logs. Our server logs contain only the type of request, the endpoint, the response code and the response time — no IP addresses, no links and no file names. Links that appear in error logs are replaced by an anonymous fingerprint.

Files you convert. When you use a converter, your file is uploaded to our server, converted and offered for download. The original is deleted as soon as conversion finishes, and the converted file is deleted within one hour. Files are never viewed by people, shared or used for anything else.

Ratings. If you rate a tool, we store your star rating with a one-way fingerprint made from the page and your IP address, so each person can vote once per page. The fingerprint can't be turned back into your IP address and can't link your votes across pages.

Messages you send us. If you contact us through a form, we receive what you enter — for example your email address and message — and use it only to reply and improve the service. Your IP address is not stored with messages, and messages are deleted after 180 days. To keep spam out, forms may use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a real browser is sending the form without setting tracking cookies.

Preferences in your browser. The site stores small preferences — such as your theme, a closed notice or the rating you gave — in your own browser's local storage. They never leave your device.

Downloads from other sites

Most downloads go directly from the original site's servers (for example YouTube or Instagram) to your browser. In that case your browser connects to that site, which receives your IP address under its own privacy policy. Thumbnails shown in results are also loaded from those sites.

Browser extension (Klipova Helper)

• The extension sends the address of the page you are on to Klipova only when you click Download, to list the available files. It is handled like a link pasted on the website: not stored, only a hashed summary in short-lived technical logs.
• YouTube (Firefox version): the video is read from YouTube and the files from YouTube's servers entirely in your browser; audio and video are joined on your computer. Nothing about it is sent to Klipova.
• Instagram: if a post or story needs you to be signed in, the extension reads it with your own Instagram session in your browser. Your session and cookies are never sent to Klipova or anyone else.
• The extension has no ads and no analytics, and does not read your browsing history.

Service providers

We use hosting and network providers to run Klipova. They process data only on our behalf and only as needed to deliver the service.

How long we keep data

• Results and temporary download links: up to 1 hour
• Rate-limit fingerprints: up to 1 hour
• Converted files: deleted within 1 hour
• Rating fingerprints: as long as the rating is shown
• Messages: up to 180 days

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or Turkey's KVKK) you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, or object to its processing. Because we don't keep accounts or download histories, there is usually nothing about you to return. To make a request, contact us at [email protected].

Children

Klipova is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

If we change how the service handles data — for example if advertising or analytics are added — we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
