Why MP3?

MP3 plays on practically everything — phones, computers, car stereos, smart speakers and old MP3 players. YouTube itself delivers audio as M4A or WebM, which some devices don't support. Converting to 192 kbps MP3 keeps the sound clear while keeping the file small: roughly 1.4 MB per minute.

What quality are the MP3 files?

MP3s are encoded at 192 kbps and 44.1 kHz, a good balance between sound quality and file size. The result can't sound better than the original audio YouTube provides.

Is there a length limit?

Videos up to 3 hours can be converted. That covers music, podcasts, lectures and most live recordings.

Why isn't the file size shown before downloading?

The MP3 is created while you download it, so its exact size is only known at the end. As a rule of thumb, one minute of audio is about 1.4 MB.

Can I get the original audio without converting it?

Yes. The quality list also offers the original audio track (M4A or WebM), which keeps YouTube's audio exactly as it is. MP3 is the better choice when you need a file that plays on every device and car stereo.

Do you keep the converted MP3?

No. The conversion happens on the fly and the file goes straight to your browser; nothing is saved on our servers and we don't keep a list of what you convert.

Can I convert music videos to MP3?

Only convert audio you have the right to use — your own recordings, royalty-free music or content whose licence allows downloads. Most commercial music is protected by copyright.
